Drink Your Way To Good Health This Winter

There’s nothing quite like a delicious warm drink on a cold winter’s day. It’s comforting and heats you up from the inside out. Now, imagine if you could enjoy a variety of winter warmers that kept you healthy at the same time.

What a win it would be to find yummy replacements for those hard-to-resist, kilo-inducing hot chocolates, which also boost your immunity and help with aches and pains. Or, even speed up your sluggish winter metabolism.

Check out the warm drinks we’ve come up with which are Cambridge Weight Plan-friendly and offer some serious health goodness as well.

We used the Cambridge Weight Plan Water Flavourings and a few other tasty ingredients, found in most kitchens, to excite your taste-buds.

Spice-it-up Raspberry Punch

Ingredients
1 tsp Cambridge Weight Plan Raspberry & Elderflower Water Flavouring
1L hot water
6 whole cloves or ¼ tsp ground cloves
1 cinnamon stick or ½ tsp ground cinnamon
2 star anise

Directions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a large heatproof jug, even a large teapot if you have one
  2. Allow to sit for a few minutes for the flavours to release
  3. Strain through a sieve and serve hot

The health benefits

  • Cinnamon is full of antioxidants which have been found to have anti-inflammatory effects and help boost your immunity system.
  • Clove has the same benefits as cinnamon and also helps regulate blood sugar.
  • Star anise helps improve digestion.

Zesty Lemon & Lime Mojito  

Ingredients
1 tsp Cambridge Weight Plan Lemon & Lime Water Flavouring
1L hot water
2 to 4 slices of lime
A handful of fresh mint

Directions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a large heatproof jug or teapot.
  2. Allow to sit for a few minutes to allow the flavours to be released.
  3. Pour into a mug and sip away.

The health benefits
Mint is believed to increase bile secretion and encourage bile flow. This helps speed up and ease digestion which in turn may support healthy cholesterol levels.

Warm and Citrusy Spiced Brew

Ingredients
1 tsp Cambridge Weight Plan Orange Water Flavouring
1L hot water
1 cinnamon stick or ½ tsp ground cinnamon
1 small slice of ginger (2cm) or finely grated
1 slice of orange

Directions

  1. Add all the ingredients, except the orange slice, to a large heatproof jug or teapot.
  2. Allow to sit for a few minutes for flavours to release.
  3. If you added grated ginger, strain through a sieve. if you prefer a stronger ginger taste, leave it in.
  4. Add the slice of orange and serve

The health benefits

  • Research has shown that ginger is good to have when you feel a cold coming on. It is a diaphoretic, which means that it will warm you from the inside and promote perspiration.
    Oranges contain vitamin C and boost your immunity.

Please note: When using the Cambridge Weight Plan Water Flavourings only use hot/warm water and not boiling.
